We are hiring an experienced Pool Construction Technician to assist with new pool construction and ongoing pool service across the Coachella Valley.

Pool Construction Technician - Coachella Valley

This is a full-time field position covering both sides of our pool division. On the construction side you will assist with layout, excavation, plumbing, steel, shotcrete, tile, coping, and plaster on new residential pools. On the service side you will run weekly and monthly maintenance routes, including cleaning, chemistry balancing, and equipment troubleshooting. What You Will Do

Core Responsibilities
Layout and excavation Stake out pool shape from approved plans, guide excavation, and verify dimensions, depth, and transitions.
Plumbing Run pool returns, skimmers, main drains, and equipment loops in PVC to plan. Pressure test and seal connections before backfill.
Steel and rebar Cut, bend, and tie rebar cages for walls, floor, and bond beam to engineered specifications.
Shotcrete support Assist on shotcrete pours: staging, hose management, cutting, trimming, and curing support through the critical early hours.
Tile, coping, plaster Install waterline tile, set coping, and assist on plaster and pebble finish pours with proper prep and cure.
Service and maintenance Weekly and monthly service routes: skim, vacuum, brush, test and balance chemistry, and clean baskets and filters.
Site safety and communication Maintain a clean, safe job site and communicate professionally with leads, other trades, and homeowners.

Pool Work You Will Do

Experience across pool construction is helpful and in most cases required. Shotcrete, plaster, and plumbing experience are the scopes where skilled technicians are hardest to find locally. Maintenance route experience is a strong complement and keeps the work year-round.

Pool Services We Build and Maintain
Layout and Excavation Stake out pool shape, guide excavator operators, and verify dimensions, depth transitions, steps, and benches against plan.
Pool Plumbing PVC plumbing for returns, skimmers, main drains, spa jets, and equipment loops with proper pressure testing before backfill.
Steel and Rebar Bent and tied rebar cages for pool walls, floor, and bond beam per engineered drawings, including dowels into existing structures.
Shotcrete / Gunite Shotcrete pour support: hose handling, cutting to plan, trimming edges clean, and wet curing through the first days.
Tile and Coping Waterline tile set level and clean. Natural stone, brick, and precast coping installed straight and grouted tight.
Plaster and Pebble Finish Surface prep, plaster pour support, pebble finish, and proper post-plaster fill and chemistry start-up.
Weekly and Monthly Service Scheduled maintenance routes including skim, vacuum, brush, basket cleaning, filter backwash, and chemistry balance.
Chemistry and Troubleshooting Test and balance pH, chlorine, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and stabilizer. Diagnose and resolve common water quality issues.
Shotcrete, plaster, and plumbing experience stands out. Verifiable experience in these areas significantly strengthens your application.

What We Require From You

  • Minimum 5 years of pool construction or pool service experience. Hard minimum. Experience across both is ideal.
  • Hands-on experience in pool construction scopes, with preference for layout, plumbing, steel, shotcrete, tile and coping, and plaster work.
  • Solid understanding of pool chemistry including pH, chlorine, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and stabilizer, plus how they interact.
  • Ability to work in desert heat, where summer pool work starts early and equipment pads stay hot all day.
  • Physical stamina to lift 75 lbs, handle outdoor construction work, and spend extended time in and around pools.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites across the valley.
  • Professional communication with leads, other trades, and homeowners.

What Sets Strong Applicants Apart

  • Shotcrete experience on the nozzle or on the support crew, including familiarity with mix, slump, and cure.
  • Plaster or pebble finish experience including surface prep, pour support, and proper water chemistry start-up.
  • Pool plumbing experience with clean solvent welds and pressure testing that holds the first time.
  • CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification for the service side of the role.
  • Equipment troubleshooting skills on pumps, filters, heaters, and salt systems.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Experience running a small crew or acting as a lead on residential pool jobs.
